This is how some in this house handled the first day of 2016:

Yes that is three teen age girls there.  This was taken at about 10:30 this morning after I had already been up for several hours, been to the store and had laundry started.  Two different takes on starting the new year off right. LOL

Of course, I also did this today as a way of starting my year off right:

I have never had a manicure before, let alone acrylics, but decided to pamper myself today!  I think the red will contrast nicely with my handgun. :-)

Went Shooting Today!

It was icy, but I did it!  Of course, it helped that our neighbor, DH, and I were trying out the new fancy shooting range in Manassas.

Elite Shooting Sports
(picture from the internet)

At this range, you can become a member or pay hourly.  Today we just paid for an hour of range time.  Neighbor rented a 100 yard lane for his rifle, while DH and I got a 25 yard one for our handguns.

First off.... it is beautiful inside.  Nice and open.  The ladies at the front reception area was very pleasant, friendly, and knowledgeable.  We all registered without any issues, paid our one-time initiation fees to shoot there, and watched their short training/procedures video.

After the video, which was less than 10 minutes long and just went over their safety rules and regulations.  We went over to the counter area that rents the lanes.  Our friend wanting the 100 yard lane had to wait about 20 minutes for his, but one was open immediately for us.  I also love that they have a sink area right where you come out of the lanes.  This makes washing up after shooting easier.  Over all we really enjoyed it, and are seriously contemplating joining.  The only negative about our day was the gentleman helping us get our lane.  There was a moment where DH was going to get our gear out of the car and I was asking him something and at the same time I was trying to work with the gentlemen.  He asked me something and I took a moment to sort out what to say and he says "are you out of your element?" like being at a range is alien to me!  It took every ounce of self control not to let him know what my "element" was, but I wasn't sure if we were going to want to come back again and did not want to cause a scene.  Let's just say that if anyone else there acts that way, I will not hold back.  I do not take kindly to men assuming because I am female that shooting is not something I know about.  Especially in this day and age of shooting!

Over all a great place, and one I plan to visit again soon.  Hopefully I will be able to blog about it also.

New Year

We are already 7 days into 2015 and my plans for writing on this thing have already not happened. LOL

Family issues take up time and energy.  Planning lessons take up more energy, and then I have also been working with a personal trainer.  Well, I have met with him three times, but that is more time than I have spent with one in my whole life. LOL

I plan to find a time each week to write, but we will see what happens. :-)

I have not died....

I am just extremely busy!

I started teaching 3rd grade this year, while finishing up my Master's degree.

I have not been doing much of anything else!

I hope to post more as things die down a bit!

Glock 42

Yes, this XD girl actually likes the new Glock 42!

I have not liked the 380's I have shot in the past.  Mainly because they HURT!

That said, my dear sweet husband has been wanting the new Glock since he heard it was coming out....and this past weekend he did just so....   Today we went to the range to try that baby out.  He loved it. (not surprising)  I LOVED it... (really a surprise!)

I have never been a fan of how a Glock feels in my hand.  Just did not feel "right," but I have to say that the new Glock felt good in my hand and I was able to shoot it rather decently.

Here is a picture from today.  Not the best quality, but it's what I can give ya. :-)

That was a fail!

Okay, so I fell short on my challenge, but I will still continue to post daily from today on.....

Friday was spent at Kings Dominion with the grandson.  He had a blast and we recovered. LOL
Saturday was spent recovery from said adventure and preparing for my intensive class this week at Liberty.

Sunday was spent also getting assignments done and driving down to Lynchburg.  I will admit that blogging was the last thing on my mind the last three days.

I will do better even though the posts will probably be short due to class and homework. :-)
