I got to meet a fellow blogger today!

I was able to meet Lynne at Female and Armed at the Gun Show today.  She was promoting National Take Your Daughter to the Range day.

She is just as nice in person as she is online!  I need to check my calendar to see about locking in June 9th, but if not I will be seeing her again in September for the Cornered Cat training.

Look what I got today!

I have mentioned before that I wanted a knife and by golly I got one! LOL

I was originally looking at a benchmade, but after some discussion with Mr. Tea, we decided on this KA-BAR version that does not need opening.  Which will save time in a stressful situation.

Do you teach your kids to defend themselves?

This morning DaddyBear has a very informative post about teaching our kids how to deal with bullies.

His philosophy is almost identical to what Mr. Tea and I have always told our kids.  Basically, if you tried to avoid the fight, but had no choice we will support you no matter what.  Also, if you are standing up for someone that can not defend them self, we will also support you, no matter what the school is saying.

We were also just talking to youngest DD this past weekend that if she ever has to defend herself, then to fight as "dirty" as she needs to!  And then to get away the first chance she can!

Best comment EVER!

I was reading this article "Bill Cosby on George Zimmerman: Guns, not race, real issue in Trayvon Martin case"  and just LOVED this comment:

     I love B.C.
But blaming "the Gun", is like blaming "the Spoon" for Rosie O'Donnell being Fat.

Went to the range today....

Had a great time and even tried out some targets that DH printed off of some website he found.  (I will post the link once I get a chance to ask him)

I wish I could post pictures, but I seem to have misplaced my camera. :-(

It was a beautiful day at the range!  The range master was giving me grief because I never like how I shoot.  Of course, I had already heard all of the same stuff from DH.  I am trying to be less critical of myself, but it is hard. :-)

First Day back to work...

and had to get used to not carrying all day long.

It's just part of the price to work where I do, and I am okay with it for the most part.  I know it is not going to change and I either deal with it or change jobs. LOL

I am thinking of what I want to be my picture for this blog.  I have some ideas going through my head, but will start putting them into form when I get the chance.

Where is the national news on this one?

Chicago bloodbath: 6-year-old among those killed

"At least 10 people were killed and 39 others wounded during a bloody weekend in Chicago, police said."

This happened back on the 19th of March and I am just now reading about this?  Oh and the link to the article was sent to me, I never saw it on Yahoo's news page or AOL's.

Where are Al and Jesse?  Why isn't this being talked about by our President?

Holster update.

I have been using my Old Faithful Holster and I must say I am liking it. :-)

Although I will always be a fan of my Remora, I like knowing that my holster is attached to my belt.  I also like knowing that I do not NEED to worry about where to put my gun if I need to use the restroom while I am out and about. :-)

I have also been using my DH's Galco to see how I like it's fit, but find that I like the adjustments we have made to my old faithful so that it fits to my body and the way I like to draw.

Anyways, just wanted to give an update on my holster issues.

Of course, after being able to wear my gun everyday during Spring break, it will be an adjustment come Tuesday when I have to go back to work and I am unable to carry all day.  But that is fodder for a whole different type of post. LOL

stay tuned

switching url's come back soon!

At the range today

Got another chance to go to the range this week. Oldest daughter wanted to do something today, but something that didn't cost alot. So I suggested that her and her boyfriend come out to the range for some practice, then to the house for a cookout. So we had plans set!

The range was nice. I am not sure if it was just a normal weekday or if the threat of rain kept people away, but the range was almost empty. Oldest daughter's boyfriend had never been to the range before, so gave some basics to him. He is familiar with rifles and shotguns, but not so much with handguns.

He was able to shoot both Glocks and my XDm. He said it was fun, so I have a feeling he will be coming out again soon.

My groupings are needing work, but that is just part of the process. That and my DH says I am too hard on myself when it comes to my shooting. LOL

A great first day of Spring Break!

It started kind of rough since I had to run to the big box store to replace my clothesline since our dryer decided to stop blowing hot air last night!  I am not worried, DH is very handy and will figure out what needs to be replaced, but until then we will be using the clothesline.

After getting the clothes out on the line I got my range gear together and off I went to meet up with my friend A Girl and Her Gun!  It was SO nice to get out to a range for some "girl" time!  Don't get me wrong, I love my hubby and my usual range, but I am usually one of the few ladies there.

Today we each took a lane and went to work on our groupings.  I really liked watching my friend use a deck of cards to improve her shooting.  I think I need to pick up a cheap deck of cards before my next trip to the range. ;-)

After spending our brass, we went down the road for some lunch and chatting.  It was really nice to get to know her away from what I read online.  Don't get me wrong, I love her writing and all the wonderful information she has shared with us all, but it is nothing compared to meeting her in person.

We chatted about how females, for the most part, are raised to "be good," to "not fight," and sometimes to even "give in" so as to lessen the damage to ourselves if we are attacked.  (Thankfully I was raised to always fight back and to not give in without a fight.  Thanks Mom!)  I have never understood what it is considered "proper" to give in to the criminals.

We talked and talked and just had a great time.  I hope we will be able to get together again soon.

Name change...

Same URL, since that is too much of a pain to change at this point, but I felt this is a better name for me. :-)

Another post will come later.  I had a great time meeting up with a friend and want to blog about it, but am time restricted at the moment. :-)
