Here is a picture of the kittens. I have given them their "temporary" names until their forever homes choose them. Yes, there is a theme. LOL (Bonus points for whoever can guess the link to the tuxedo colored one!)
**Forgive the messed up name. It was late and that one was supposed to be Glock, not the other name that was there. LOL

I love this story
The "two wolves" or "The wolves within"
A Cherokee Legend
An old Cherokee is teaching his grandson about life. "Afight is going on inside me," he said to the boy.
"It is a terrible fight and it is between two wolves. One is evil - he is anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity,guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego."He continued, "The other is good - he is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion, andfaith. The same fight is going on inside you - and inside every other person, too."
The grandson thought about it for a minute and then askedhis grandfather, "Which wolf will win?"
The old Cherokee simply replied, "The one youfeed."
Here is the same story, but it is called "GrandfatherTells" which is also known as "The Wolves Within"
An old Grandfather said to his grandson, who came to himwith anger at a friend who had done him an injustice, "Let me tell you astory.
I too, at times, have felt a great hate for those that havetaken so much, with no sorrow for what they do.
But hate wears you down, and does not hurt your enemy. It islike taking poison and wishing your enemy would die. I have struggled withthese feelings many times." He continued, "It is as if there are twowolves inside me. One is good and does no harm. He lives in harmony with allaround him, and does not take offense when no offense was intended. He willonly fight when it is right to do so, and in the right way.
But the other wolf, ah! He is full of anger. The littlestthing will set him into a fit of temper. He fights everyone, all the time, forno reason. He cannot think because his anger and hate are so great. It ishelpless anger, for his anger will change nothing.
Sometimes, it is hard to live with these two wolves insideme, for both of them try to dominate my spirit."
The boy looked intently into his Grandfather's eyes andasked, "Which one wins, Grandfather?"
The Grandfather smiled and quietly said, "The one Ifeed."

It was such a fun morning!!!
I got to finally "meet" my friend from A Girl and Her Gun in person! She is as nice in person as she is online!
We got to meet up this morning since I did not have to be at school today. Since weekends are always so busy, it's nice to get out during the week. Plus, ranges are a bit less crowded during the week.
My friend was very nice and we had so much fun shooting. So much that we are already talking about doing it again. Maybe we can even have lunch after next time!
She got a chance to shoot some different guns and I got a chance to experience a new range. I really liked it and it is not that far from my house. Farther than my trusty outdoor one, but easier to get to than the one in Centreville!
Wanted to post earlier, but after getting home, I needed to run a couple errands to get ready for back to work tomorrow.
I hope everyone has a great day!

Blue Ridge Arsenal
Sweetie and I went to Blue Ridge Arsenal yesterday. It was nice to experience an indoor range, since the only range I had been to was the outdoor one at Clark Brothers.
To say it was a different experience would be an understatement! It was nice not having to deal with the bad weather of winter in Northern Virginia, but I will admit that I miss the interactions with the others that I get from my outdoor range. I guess because the outdoor range has cease fires for people to go and change targets and while that is going on you get to chat with the others there. Since the indoor range has a very nifty little level that brings your target to you, there is really no need for cease fires and thus less opportunities for chatting with your range neighbors.
The fees for non-members at Blue Ridge are $20.00 per lane/per hour and $10.00 for each additional person for that lane. (max of 4 to a lane) You do not have to purchase your ammo there, nor do you have to buy their targets. So for $30.00, DH and I shot for an hour. Not bad overall, but it does limits your time.
All in all I liked Blue Ridge, but I will admit that I am still partial to my "home" range at Clark Brothers.

Gun Collector
This was sent to me from my dear husband:
Gun Collector
You may have heard on the news about a southern California man put under 72-hour psychiatric observation when it was found he owned 100 guns and allegedly had (by rough estimate) 100,000 rounds of ammunition stored in his home. The house also featured a secret escape tunnel. My favorite quote from the dimwit television reporter: "Wow! He has about a quarter million machine gun bullets." The headline referred to it as a "massive weapons cache".By southern California standards someone owning 100,000 rounds would be called "mentally unstable". Just imagine if he lived elsewhere:In Arizona, he'd be called "an avid gun collector".In Texas, he'd be called "a novice gun collector".In Utah, he'd be called "moderately well prepared", but they'd probably reserve judgment until they made sure that he had a corresponding quantity of stored food.In Montana, he'd be called "The neighborhood 'Go-To' guy".In Idaho, he'd be called "a likely gubernatorial candidate".In Wyoming, he'd be called "an eligible bachelor".And, in South Carolina, he’d be called "a deer hunting buddy".
This is troubling
I am not the biggest fan of Huffington Post's reporting, but this article has me concerned.
NYPD Testing Long-Distance Gun Detection Device
It appears to be some type of very low level radiation that will show a "disruption" in your body heat signature if you are carrying a concealed weapon. I already feel violated just reading this article!
All the anti's will say that this will be great to get illegal guns off the streets, but what about those of us that have taken the steps to be able to conceal carry?
I conceal carry for a reason, and that is I DO NOT WANT anyone to know I am carrying!!!
This is dangerous and needs to be heard!

Quote of the Day
"Among the many misdeeds of the British rule in India, history will look upon the act of depriving a whole nation of arms, as the blackest."
Went to the range yesterday.
Yes, got home from work and DH was home and had the bags ready. So...off we went!
I was shooting a bit low, but still good groupings, so I am not going to complain (too much). That is a bit of an inside joke with my sweetie, since he says I am too hard on myself with my shooting. :-)
At the end of our time at the range, I got to thinking about the hollow points that I had just put back into my carry gun. I was wondering if they felt any different when they are shot, compared to FMJ rounds......so, I asked sweetie. He said "a little, go ahead and shoot what you have and see." Now, being a bit on the frugal side, I was hesitant to shoot the "pricier" ammo. He said to go ahead, we need to buy more anyways, so I shot.
OH MY GOODNESS...... he did not tell me that flames basically come out the end of the gun when you shoot that ammo! It was really cool, with just a little more kick than FMJ ammo.
I think it was a really good thing to see how that ammo shot, so that I am not taken by surprised if I ever have to use it in a real life situation.

Missed going to the range today..
But it was just too cold!
We have hardly missed a weekend in months, but we have decided that if it is less than 40 degrees outside, we are staying home!
The range we go to is outdoors and is really nice, but oh my goodness it can get cold out there sometimes!
We are hoping that it is warmer tomorrow. Since it's a holiday, DH and I both have off, so a trip to the range would be nice. (just when did a trip to the range qualify as a date??) I want to start practicing some with both eyes open. I know that is something I need to work on.

I am one!
I am an evil “pro gun extremist” as far as some anti-gunextremist are concerned. But guess what,I am proud of it. I am proud of the factthat I have gthe ability to protect myself and others if there happens to be anopportunity to do so.
I have read on the blog-sphere that some in the anti-guncrowd feel that we should “just let them rob you and no on will get hurt.” How can anyone with even a thimble full ofcommon sense believe that a person can be robber, either at gun point or notand NOT be harmed? Maybe not physically, but I can guarantee they will be harmed emotionally! I can not guarantee that the criminal that iswilling to threaten my life to steal my possessions will be satified withleaving me without injury, there have been many cases of people that “complied”with a mugger and still got pistol whipped.
Have I always been this way? No, I have not. I probably don’tlook like a “pro gun extremist” either, though I am not sure what one issupposed to look like. I am sure thereare some of the anti’s out there that could help me with that bit of info, butI don’t feel like asking. LOL I am a bitof a homebody, I like to cook, can, sew, read, and being a mom andgrandma. I work full time and go toschool full time. I do have one tattoo, does that give me “the look?” I amprobably the least likely person that people would think is “packing heat” whenI am at the grocery store, but that is the way I like it.
So, to all those outthere that feel that I should not have right to own the means to protectmyself, I say “sorry, but I am going to anyways!”

Candles against VIOLENCE
and showing what my husband and I do to take responsibility for our OWN safety. I will not be a victim if I can help it!
I selected the candle for this "vigil," my husband said forget the candle, he wanted a true statement so he reloaded almost 1000 rounds and that is his symbol for ending violence.

A candle will be lit to end VIOLENCE.
So, tomorrow the Brady Gun control group is sponsoring a candlelight vigil to "end gun violence." That seems all nice, but why don't they say to end ALL violence? Is violence okay if it's with a knife or poison? (yes, that is sarcasm there)
The nice guy over at Weer'd World is promoting all of us responsible gun owners to stage our own version of a candlelight vigil against VIOLENCE of all kinds!
Post a picture on January 8th showing a candle and your carry item(s).
I have not made my picture yet, but I will before tomorrow.

A Wonderful Give-a-way!
A Girl and Her Gun is doing a give-a-way for $300 towards a basic handguns course!
All you need to do is post a comment to her blog. Here is the link again: http://agirlandhergun.blogspot.com/2012/01/give-way.html?showComment=1325732617565#c1974165122623559327

It will be weird tomorrow!
I go back to work tomorrow. It was a nice 13 day break, but now I have to get used to NOT carrying every where I go.
Yes, as you have probably deducted from my above statement, I work at a place where I am not allowed to conceal carry. I will just have to get used to it again until the spring break. LOL
